Background to EPCs
In order to meet Kyoto targets on climate change, the EU implemented the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which came into force in 2003. The Directive requires all member states to enshrine in law a requirement that all buildings constructed, sold or rented must have available an Energy Performance Certificate detailing it's energy performance. In the UK this has already been implemented for properties for sale, with the EPC a mandatory part of the Home Information Pack, and also for properties to rent. Commercial properties also need an EPC, though this type is much more comprehensive than the EPC required for domestic dwellings.
Your property cannot be marketed until it has an EPC, produced by a qualified Energy Assessor.
My experience
I have a background in Building Surveying, having studied at Reading and Kingston Universities, and I have worked as a surveyor on projects in both London and Cambridge. I re-entered the property industry as a Domestic Energy Assessor, training with The Building Research Establishment (BRE) and qualified in September 2007 at the same time Home Information Packs were introduced. My experience since then includes assessing a wide variety of properties throughout the region, providing Energy Performance Certificates for individuals and estate agents alike.

Domestic EPCs
I am fully accredited and insured with BRE (cert. BREC200886). I offer a professional and friendly service providing domestic Energy Performance Certificates and can accommodate appointments to suit at short notice, including evenings and weekends.
I charge a flat fee of £60 inclusive
for properties with CB (Cambridgeshire) postcodes.
Surrounding areas can be covered for an additional
fee (please enquire). Floor plans can be provided
in conjunction with an EPC for an additional fee
of £20.

I have trained with Commercial Energy Assessors (CEA) to provide Commercial EPCs, qualifying in October 2009. I am accredited and fully insured with BRE (cert. BREC200886) and am qualified to assess Level 3 buildings. My fees start at £100 incl. depending on complexity, please contact me for a competitive quote.
